Atlas Mythica
An Archive of Mythological Creatures

Mohammad Saim Al Shafi

“Atlas Mythica” is an interactive digital archive that catalogs mythological creatures from around the world, focusing on their origins and stories. The project aims to provide an engaging and visually appealing experience that goes beyond traditional static archives. Users can explore the creatures via an interactive map, detailed maps with hand-drawn illustrations and captivating stories. Favorites and category filters allow for personalized navigation, while the overall design is a blend of mystical, ancient aesthetics and modern, intuitive UI elements. Future plans include AR functions, interactions with the community and the expansion of the creature database.

This project was developed by Mohammad Saim Al Shafi as part of the Master's program “Design and Interaction” at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences under the supervision of Prof. Nicolas Markwald and Christoph Zielke, 2024.
